Tuned Mass Damper are devices installated into extremely flexible buildings like high ones or bridges in order to attenuate vibrations due to seismic, wind or other dynamic actions.
TMD solutions can be done by connecting an extra mass to the principal mass with the aid of elastic springs and viscous dampers.
TMD can also be installed by using the mass of the higher floor of the bulding itself (or some other structural mass) by simply inserting elastic sping and viscous damper devices. In this case, the TMD is a seismic isolation installated at the top and not at the base.
